Nowhere else to put this, so this thread is going to be for my own amusement. Will feature things important to Dia and her history, etc. Click on names to view extended profiles.
Dia has spent most of her life surrounded by a small group of people. They're referred to as The Black Hand. Like Dia, they have have a mental ability. Also like Dia, they seem to age at a slower pace than what is considered normal for other humans. They all have unique skills in addition to their ability.
dia hortensia
• Dia is the so-called leader of The Black Hand. She's been called one of the best telepaths in the world. Emotionally, she's rather distant, preferring to keep to herself. She's a widow and has lost her eldest son. For whatever reason, Dia is the glue that holds the group together. Without her guidance and even temperament, the group would have fallen apart many years ago. She's not overly fond of being in a leadership role but knows that no one else will do it as effectively; she's more of a behind the scenes kind of person.
jerome willis
• He's Dia's go-to fixer-upper. Jerome is also a telepath and is sort of the muscle among the group, as he towers over everyone. Jerome is an even-tempered man and rarely does he raise his voice. Whenever Dia is out of commission or unable to communicate, he is the one that relays information and sends it out. He's sort of her bodyguard, as well as her secretary. He is the only one that she can trust, even among her closest allies.
andromeda mars
• Andromeda is Omni-linguistic. Her main function among the group is language and communications. Unlike Jerome, she is more easily angered and brash. Her style of taking care of things differs from the rest of the group. She says the first thing on her mind most times. Dia keeps Andromeda around because she's the best at what she does and in the business of drug and money smuggling, knowing different languages comes in mighty handy.
sal delphino
• Sal has the ability to inflict pain onto his victims mentally and trap them within their own minds. He is very crooked and opportunistic and has no qualms about using his ability to benefit himself. He has been in and out of prison several times, for a variety of crimes. Sal can be an intelligent man, but much prefers to use his ability to get his point across.
torrence pelé
• Torrence can control and influence the emotions of others, which she doesn't always use for the good of humanity. She's laid-back and doesn't take things too seriously and is usually trying to loosen an overstressed Dia out. She's bipolar, though it's gone undiagnosed. Her mood swings can make things rather testy, but she's in a group with mental manipulators so is in pretty good hands.
lawrence sinclair
• Lawrence can both enhance or weaken someones abilities, otherwise known as power augmentation. He's a rather quiet individual and doesn't participate in many of the activities that the group partakes in. However, he is extremely loyal. Dia likes Lawrence as he is a very intelligent man and isn't afraid to let anyone know it. He almost seems out of place among everyone else and is probably the only one with any hint of "class" attached to his name.
elodie juno
• Elodie is the tracker of the group. Whether they have abilities or not, Elodie is somehow able to locate anyone anywhere in the world. Her ability is vital to the group. She has an even temperament along with Jerome and is a voice of reason, usually keeping Sal on a leash.
vivienne benoît
• Vivienne was a member of Dia's crew but grew estranged when she was caught in an affair with Torrence's husband, Fabien. She's pretty ditsy and crafty and uses her ability of illusions to her advantage. She was exiled from the group for her transgressions, but eventually allowed back in.
pierre ferrand
• Pierre is a young Parisian orphan who was adopted by Torrence. He's since become vital to the business and his teleportation ability has come in handy on several occasions. He's pretty laid-back and doesn't mind taking their abuses. He's been through enough in his own life to know that it's their way of showing "affection".
zendra
• Zendra is Dia's childhood friend. The two had something of a falling out when Dia married Orion. She's ruthless, manipulative and cunning. Zendra has poisonous blood that emits from her body at will; she can control it if she wishes. Zendra is the polar opposite of Dia in every way.
melania winters
• Originally a friend of Zendra's, Melania soon made her way into the group. Melania can move things with her mind, otherwise known as telekinesis but she almost never uses this ability out of fear. Melania is a lot like Zendra. She's independent, power-hungry, ambitious and business-savvy.
jack summers
• Jack was a former politician. As a politician he garnered his fair share of enemies and friends. He was highly respected before having to resign due to his appearance, as well as helping his friends out in their time of need. He's also the only one without an ability, yet still has retained his youthful appearance. He is intelligent, quick-witted, charismatic, and has a good sense of humor.
