Ignacio Astor Benoit
Gender: Male
Age/DOB: 26/Oct 31, 1985
Occupation: Free lance writer
Race: Human
Appearance;
Little of Ignacio's Spanish heritage shows in his physical appearence. Not quite six foot, he has a lean build that some would even call slender. His skin is pale with just a hint of gold, but if he spends much time out doors he tans deeply, his hair thick and a rich brown. It has a distinct texture, not curly but certainly very wavy. His hands are long fingered- artist hands, some might call them. His eyes are catching- they are the one hint to the darker side of his heritage, a brown as dark as good espresso, near black. His face is expressive, given to pensiveness but quick to smile and to laugh. His English, while very good, does carry a distinct yet somehow unplacable accent that is clearly European. It would be a French accent, except for being muddled by his many years in Spain. No piercings or tattoos mark his skin, nor does he have any scars to speak of.
Personality;
There is some kind of quiet charisma that hangs around Ignacio like a cloak. He seems only half aware of it himself, but it's the sort of thing that makes people notice him when he walks into a room. He's easy with people, and enjoys learning about different cultures. He is fearless of strangers and of new places, always eager to learn- this fearlessness extends to animals as well. Intelligent and well studied, he is a good conversationalist and most enjoys trying to find topics that the people around him are also interested in. He has a large knowledge base around biology from his father, but his clear passion is poetry, literature, language, and dance. He has an old world charm about him, but his chivalry doesn't seem like an act- he does it as naturally as breathing.
Active and lively, Ignacio does not live his life at a slow place. Though he's been broken hearted before, it doesn't stop him from eagerly embracing every part of life. He is extremely resiliant in mind, able to overcome emotional hurdles and come to quick decisions easily. He has a general good will towards everyone, and tries very hard not to make enemies. However, this is unavoidable sometimes. He doesn't hold grudges, having found out long ago that they are simply too much effort. When someone gets on his bad side, or he decides they're simply not worth dealing with, he's more likely to ignore them. Rarely can he be whipped up into such a frenzy that he becomes uncivil.
Ignacio still struggles with certain English phrases and customs. His very fearlessness often gets him into trouble, as he doesn’t heed warnings and often assumes the best of peoples’ intentions. He is also quite outspoken about his views, and unwilling to lie or hide things- he is very straightforward and would rather be hurt than hide what he’s feeling. He also has very liberal views on gender, sexuality, and relationships which he is not afraid to share.
History;
Ignacio's father, Phillipe, met his mother Maria on a trip to Spain. Maria was a true Gypsy of the Sacramonte in Granada, and the first time he saw her dancing in the street he fell in love with her. She rebuffed him, but he extended his stay in Spain for nearly three years until finally she allowed herself to be wooed by his long letters professing his love and his eloquent poetry. Young and excited, the young lovers travelled extensively, and were married three times- first privately by themselves in Gibralter, then with her family in Granada, and finally with his family in the south of France. Ignacio was born two years later. Even as a babe he travelled extensively, his parents never content to stay in one place too long. When he became school aged, he was taught in a French boarding school, but holidayed with his family in Spain or wherever else they happened to be (usually North Africa).
He attended University in the UK where his English became much more fluent. He studied literature. Once he graduated, he travelled a bit more on his own. It was when he was spending time with his family in Spain when he met Elizabeth. On their terrace the family was playing music, singing, and dancing. He'd just finished and had walked down and out onto the street to get way from the noise and get some air. She was walking by, and she asked him for directions. He ended up showing her around the city the next day. She was on a trip after graduating highschool, barely eighteen. He was twenty four. Over the month while she was there they went through a whirlwind romance, and when she went back to the States, he followed her.
For a year and a half they lived together while she attended college, until she met a nice American boy that her family approved of. Then she left him and moved to the West Coast to be with her new beau. However, Ignacio had fallen in love with the Saint Calais, and decided to stay a while longer despite his family urging him to return.
