Tall and languid are often used to describe Gabriella. She has a very athletic build from years of dance and gymnastics as well as many years of outdoor activities. Because of her love of the outdoors, her skin is perpetually sun-kissed and is reminiscent of roasted chestnuts. At five foot, eight inches, she is definitely considered taller than the average young woman and her Louisiana Creole features give her an exotic look as well as a serious, stern glint in her eyes. Gabriella has long, black curly hair that she usually wears in a ponytail and occasionally straightens so that it falls to shoulder level.
Personality;
Effervescent is a great word for Gabriella, but so are secretive and unexpected. She tends to make friends everywhere she goes with her Southern charm and adorable accent, yet Gabriella should never be taken lightly. When someone knows how to kill you several ways with the same plant that makes them the type of person you want on your side and not as your enemy. Gabriella believes in honesty and integrity. She also believes in hard work and following a moral, ethical code. She likes to attend church, more from habit and familiarity than from any true sense of piety though she greatly believes in a higher power. It’s one of her goals to become more acquainted with whomever that Creator is.
Unfortunately, Gabriella also suffers from extreme insecurities as well as a complex against fully trusting those around her. It’s difficult for her to escape the high handed teachings of her parents despite how fast she tries to run from it, and she seems unable to get the voice of her grandmother out of her head urging her to become a priestess of the old ways with her herbal skills. She feels continuously pulled in two directions when the only thing she wants to do is live her life freely by her own standards with the animals and in the woods that she loves. Gabriella is loyal, sweet, understanding, kind and usually very genteel when not provoked to extreme anger. But at heart, she is a runner, and until she finds her own inner strength she will always choose to flee rather than fight.
History;
Gabriella is special. And not because she is over 100 years old or can turn into another creature or even because she has developed some type of mythological or supernatural ability. Ms. Monae is unique because she is one of the few people in the world to really see herself as a small piece of a well-oiled machine. Growing up New Orleans, Louisiana has given Gabriella a deep rooted sense of community, an appreciation for nature and a very Southern girl mentality. She grew up with very religious parents, aloof siblings and a superstitious grandmother.
From an early age, Gabriella loved being outside. She used to run away from home and go into the swamps and bayous outside of her parish and sometimes her family wouldn't find her for days. Her parents thought she could be possessed by a demon while her grandmother simply believed spirits were calling to her as a child. Gabriella knew the truth was that she simply communed better with nature than with people. It wasn't until she got older that she realized how lucky she’d been not to be bitten by a poisonous snake or eaten by a gator.
In an attempt to bring some normalcy to their child’s strange ways, Gabriella’s parents tried to put her in extracurricular activities. The only options she took to were dance and gymnastics. They were quite exhilarating and she became so good that she even qualified for the Olympics in floor gymnastics but her bar work kept her from going all the way. It didn't faze the young woman in the slightest. She continued to pursue her first love, nature, in her academics and outside of dance and gymnastics. Despite her parents’ protests, Gabriella became quite versed in herbalism and animal husbandry. It wasn't long before she got her veterinary license and, quite put out by her parents and their domineering ways, decided to move as far from Louisiana as she could to pursue a peaceful life of her choosing. Hopefully, her new home will be far less dramatic than her old one.
