Alvin Russell Maddoxx
Gender: male
Age/DOB: 43/October 29, 1969
Occupation: scientist
Race: Human
Appearance;
Alvin’s eyes are a very dark brown, almost to the point where they’re black. They are often hidden behind ancient safety goggles because he forgets to take them off. His hair is slightly layered and the longest layers are his bangs that almost reach his cheekbones. The hair is a dark brown and is often pulled away from his face. He is a bit of a sickly person, so he has very pale skin, especially since he doesn’t go outside in the sun too often. Alvin’s attire is very unique. Since he is so obsessed with the Victorian era, he has all of his clothes made in the style of the time. He always wears a Victorian style suit and when he goes out, he wears a top hat and carries a cane.
Personality;
At first glance, Alvin seems fairly normal, save for the dated clothes that he wears. Unlike his brothers, he appreciates the things that are very proper: tea time, handkerchiefs, enunciating one’s speech. He is very proper in everything he does and is absolutely appalled when someone isn’t as proper as he is. Alvin seems almost normal, until someone starts speaking to him. His schizophrenia is very evident in his everyday life. He sees an elderly woman named Hilda and a young boy named Rupert. He obviously believes that everyone can see them, so he will often talk to them when he is out and about during his day. Occasionally, they will sing and he will sing along, which is off-putting for some people. Alvin trusts Hilda and Rupert completely and will, therefore, do whatever they tell him to do, which can lead to him doing some dangerous things.
Hilda and Rupert helped Alvin find the laboratory in the basement of his Victorian home and they were the ones that led him to the journals and books on dark magic. He has an obsession with experimenting on those that can’t be considered human, despite not being human himself. Hilda and Rupert have led him to believe that these creatures couldn’t possibly have an ounce of human left in them and that they deserve to die. He experiments on them because of the journals he found, where there were documented findings of what certain things did to certain races, and he wants to see the proof for himself.
During his experimentation is when his sadistic side comes out. He enjoys seeing the pain that he inflicts on the creatures on which he experiments. Thanks to Hilda’s and Rupert’s persuasions, Alvin truly believes that he is doing the right thing in torturing the creatures he captures and he doesn’t believe he is doing anything wrong.
History;
Alvin was born on October 29, 1969 to Xavier and Jane Maddoxx, which was a month earlier than he was supposed to be born. He was a very sickly child and had to miss a lot of school. Alvin was bullied a lot. He was smaller than the other boys and he spent a lot of time by himself reading books. Alvin was a very smart boy, so he ended up skipping fourth grade, so he was continuously the youngest one in his class.
Alvin’s middle school years passed by without much incident. He continued to get bullied, but it wasn’t quite as bad or as often as it was in elementary school. In middle school was where he really found his niche, which was in the science club. He excelled in this subject and placed in every science fair that he participated in. His luck changed somewhat when he proceeded onto high school. The high school that his parents sent him to was one that was very strong in the sports, but not really anything else. His poor health was very obvious in a school full of strong, healthy athletes and they didn’t accept poor Alvin. The bullying got worse, but Alvin refused to tell anyone about what was going on, for fear that the bullies might retaliate by being even more violent as before.
Alvin graduated high school at the top of his class and he continued on to study biology at Salem State University, in the hopes of becoming a doctor. He became involved with a fellow science nerd named Trinity Davis. They were very much alike: obsessed with science, they had both been bullied in lower years, they both wanted to become doctors, though in separate fields. They were in the same year and began dating their sophomore year at college.
In his junior year of college, Alvin started an internship with a doctor named Urs Blainta. He was a general practitioner, but he also did certain projects in his own home, which he felt would be proper to have Alvin assist him with. Blainta had an obsession with the supernatural, specifically magic, which drew Alvin in immediately. Blainta's private projects consisted of concocting what he called "potions" and finding victims on which to experiment them. At first,t his didn't sit well with Alvin, but there was one victim that changed his mind. Dr. Blainta had gotten one of the boys that had fiercely pulled Alvin in high school and Alvin got a sick pleasure out of seeing what the potion would do to his former bully. This is when the change in Alvin began.
After going onto medical school, Alvin and Trinity married. He kept his new obsession with the supernatural and experimentation from her and he continued to assist Dr. Blainta in his private projects, becoming more and more obsessed with the results. After he graduated from medical school, there was an incident that really proved Alvin's beginning insanity. One of the victims that one of Blainta's assistants brought in was none other than Alvin's older brother, Tobias. Alvin had become so obsessed with seeing the victims suffer that he didn't even care that it was his own brother that was being experimented on. The result was not quite as torturous as Alvin would have liked, but there were other events that clenched his thirst for torture.
Alvin led a complete double life. When he was at home, at his residency, or just around Trinity, he seemed quite normal, but when he was with Dr. Blainta, a crazed side of him came out. Despite his insanity, Alvin was absolutely ecstatic when he found out that Trinity was pregnant. However, the happiness did not last long because when they were out for a walk one evening in a wooded area, they were attacked by a vampire lurking in the woods. Alvin got out unscathed, but Trinity was not so lucky. She was killed and this is what made Alvin really go off the deep end. He took her body to Blainta to see if he might be able to revive her. Blainta attempted, but even his mad concoctions couldn't bring the woman back to life. After the funeral, Alvin began seeing and hearing her around. It was haunting him and he had a few crazed moments before just accepting the fact that she was still with him.
Dr. Blainta picked up and moved down south to New Orleans and Alvin happily did the same, as they had become close friends. His obsession with the Victorian era drew him to a particular house in New Orleans. It was the classic Victorian style, but it was old and falling apart. The once light purple had now become a gray. The floors were sunken in and the outside embellishments were falling off. It was all falling apart, but Alvin felt at home there. After buying it, he explored more of it and soon found that there was a crisp laboratory in the basement.
Upon further searching, he found that there was a small library in the laboratory, filled with journals and what he soon came to realize were books of magic. He became obsessed with wanting to prove that the findings in the journals were right and he concocted experiments of his own for once. This was when he began hearing the voices of Hilda and Rupert and seeing them. After being frightened by them for a short while, he soon accepted them. However, once he did that, he stopped seeing and hearing Trinity. This was when he turned to the magic books to see if there was a way to get his dear wife back.
